What is your advice for the Muslims with regards to the approaching of Ramadan? (Full) Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan
Question: What is your advice for the Muslims with regards to the approaching of Ramadan?
Shaykh Saalih Fawzaan: That which is obligatory upon the Muslim is to ask Allaah to enable him to reach Ramadan and to aid him upon fasting, standing (in prayer) and performing righteous actions during it (Ramadan). As it is a good opportunity in the life of a Muslim, “Whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and expectation [of reward], his previous sins are forgiven him.” [Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i]
“Whoever stands (in the voluntary night prayer of) Ramadan out of faith and in hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
So this is a good opportunity in the life a Muslim, perhaps it (Ramadan) may never return to him again.
Therefore the Muslim rejoices with the approaching of Ramadan, and becomes joyful and happy upon it’s coming. He makes use of it (Ramadan) upon the obedience of Allah; during the night he Stands (in prayer) and throughout the day he fasts, recites the Quraan and remembers Allaah. For verily this is a great benefit and advantage for the Muslim.
As for those who enter upon Ramadan whilst preparing corrupted programs, places of amusement , TV series, competitions and things of no benefit so that they keep the Muslims busy with such affairs, then such people are from the army of Shaytaan. Shaytaan is their partner, and due to that it’s upon the Muslim to be aware from such people and to warn against them. Ramadan is not a time for mere amusement, play, TV series, competitions, (giving out) awards and wasting time.
